Northwest Brooklyn Participatory Budgeting Assemblies Coming Up

Councilmember Steve Levin says, "Join us at our Participatory Budgeting neighborhood assemblies with your capital project ideas! First one is Oct 7."

The PBNYC process gives New Yorkers the power to decide how to spend tax dollars in their neighborhoods. In neighborhood assemblies, residents come together to brainstorm and share ideas for needed projects.

Assemblies where people can put forward their ideas for projects take place in Greenpoint, Wyckoff, Brooklyn Heights and Williamsburg throughout October.

Brad Lander is also holding Participatory Budgeting assemblies in the southern LICH service areas including Downtown Brooklyn and Gowanus.

Unlike previous years, most of his assemblies will be “issue-based:”

Streets and Transit:
Tuesday, October 14 at the NYC Transit Museum (Boerum Pl and Schermerhorn St)

Parks and Environment:
Monday, October 20 at the Picnic House in Prospect Park (95 Prospect Park West)

Arts, Community and Culture (this might include hospitals and health needs)
Wednesday, October 22 at ReelWorks (540 President Street, #2F in Gowanus)

Public Education:
Monday, October 27 at PS 154 (1625 11th Ave in Windsor Terrace)

All these events will be from 6:30-9 p.m.
